Arrow’s Inside Sales Team Leader Ryan Troughton is passionate about customer service and enabling development within his team to deliver positive outcomes for our partners. Get to know more about Ryan and what drives him.

1. Tell us about your career at Arrow to date.

I started at Arrow two years ago as an Inside Sales Representative (ISR) for the networking team.

During my interview the Team Leader handed me a job description and said, “This is a brief outline of the duties, but as an ISR, everything is your job. How does that sound?” It sounded great. From day one I made it my mission to take on every task I could and learn as much as possible.

I quickly became the go-to guy and gained a reputation for solving problems and getting things done. About 18 months later when our Team Leader left, I assumed the role, taking the opportunity to instil the same attitude in the rest of my team, and more recently taking the data centre ISR team under my wing as well.

2. What excites you most about being a Team Leader?

What excites me most is when my team members grow and succeed, both professionally and personally.

3. What do you see as being Arrow’s biggest value-add from an inside sales perspective?

Our resourcefulness. Our ISRs come from various customer service backgrounds, and they are all extremely motivated to deliver an outstanding customer experience.

Requests aren’t always a straightforward pricing enquiry and often require some level of problem solving. Our ISRs take the time to understand the request before quoting and are in constant contact with our Sales Engineers and Solutions Architects.

4. What drew you to the world of IT?

I’ve always been a tech guy, with a strong interest in the latest and greatest gadgets.

Working at a company that prides itself on being Five Years Out helps keep me at the forefront of technology.

5. What would you do if you weren’t working in tech?

I’d be wandering the Spanish countryside on the Camino de Santiago.
