Arrow Fast Five: Q&A with Mal Prasad
When he’s not tuning into Spotify for his favourite music and podcasts, Mal Prasad is helping partners across Queensland to gain an edge over their competition. Get to know Mal and learn about his role as a Channel Development Manager in this quick Q&A.
1. What inspired you to pursue a career in tech?
I’ve always been passionate about technology. I played around with a lot of different gadgets from a young age and being fascinated with how they worked really kick-started my enthusiasm for tech.
This naturally progressed into a hunger for learning about the evolution of technology. It’s a fast-paced industry that can be quite unpredictable, which I find incredibly exciting. This is the reason why, almost 14 years later, I’m still absolutely loving it.
There’s never a shortage of what and how much you can learn when it comes to technology, so the educational aspect of it still remains highly appealing to me. Watching how businesses leverage technology to solve their problems is also exciting for me.
2. Tell us about your role at Arrow and how you add value to your partners.
I’m one of Arrow’s Channel Development Managers in Queensland, where I look after some of our key mid-market and enterprise partners. I believe I add value by encouraging my partners to think outside the box and to differentiate themselves in the market by leveraging some of Arrow’s most successful programs, tools and initiatives.
For example, programs such as Arrow APEX (HPE) and the Arrow Fast Finish (Palo Alto Networks) have all demonstrated success, enabling partners to solidify their brand, access comprehensive enablement solutions and meet their growth objectives.
3. What do you see as being the key challenges and opportunities for the channel in QLD?
With Queensland having a smaller partner community, one of the main challenges tends to be that many of our partners are competing for the same opportunities, which can sometimes cause channel conflict.
Many of our partners also have their strategies set in stone, so challenging the status quo of how emerging and advanced technologies can better complement their existing technology stack could also be considered both a key challenge and a key opportunity.
Additionally, with AI, IoT, OT and robotics all gaining momentum, partners are recognising this as a key opportunity to capitalise on new and emerging markets.
4. How do you like to spend your downtime?
Reading a wide genre of books, usually around personal and professional development, biographies, cars, watches and technology. Listening to podcasts. Functional Training. Besides that, does going to brunch count?
5. What would you do if you weren’t working in IT?
Extensively traveling the world and getting off the beaten track.
At Arrow, we are passionate about translating complex technology into tangible solutions that guide innovation forward.
